From your Green Policy Siterunner: Years ago in NYC, I was fortunate as a book editor in NYC publishing to develop and edit the science writer Don Herbert, better known as "Mr. Wizard"... So many educational concepts he taught, both on his TV shows and in his books -- always emphasizing 'teaching by doing' and I was lucky to learn by doing science books with Don.
Bill Nye, "the Science Guy" also was a great fan of Mr. Wizard and credits him in his work. Today Bill carries on the tradition of Don. I also try to carry on the tradition of Don in reaching out to kids with science, hands on science that they can understand and appreciate.
Here, attempting to communicate the limits of the atmosphere, I talk about the familiar, cars, and speak of one of the educational images that I have rolled out over the years, especially for kids to illustrate how thin Earth's atmosphere is...
