Description:

Green Business Program is a voluntary program that encourages businesses to take proactive actions that are good for their bottomline and the environment. The San Francisco Green Business Program is a partnership of City Agencies that promote, recognize and provide hands-on support to local businesses that operate in an environmentally responsible way.

Our mission is to achieve a healthier and cleaner environment by helping businesses integrate environmental responsibility into their operations in a manner that is sustainable as well as profitable.

The vision of the San Francisco Green Business Program is to create a model business assistance program that provides quality support and recognizes businesses that go beyond environmental compliance by preventing pollution at its source, closing waste loops and maximizing conservation opportunities. We envision all businesses enhancing the local communities and the larger environment.

We have created a network of government agencies, like-minded businesses, business organizations and non-profit organizations and are offering businesses an easy-to-use framework for improving their environmental footprint and obtaining recognition for their efforts.

In order to become a Green Business in San Francisco, an enrolled business must comply with all environmental regulations and meet program criteria for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste.
