RESOLUTION NO. 2008-1295
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE FARMINGTON METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN PLAN

WHEREAS, the Farmington Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), in cooperation with its member entities and the Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Group (BPAG), developed a Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan that identifies improvements and establishes corridors to preserve for the creation of a regional and local walking and biking network; and

WHEREAS, the intention of the Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan is to provide more mode choice to residents and visitors and to encourage walking and biking as viable options for commuting; and

WHEREAS, the Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan outlines policies and recommended standards to guide bicycle and pedestrian planning; and

WHEREAS, the Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan provides funding and implementation strategies for the expansion of existing walking and biking networks; and

WHEREAS, opportunities for public involvement were provided throughout the Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan process, including participation in the Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Group (BPAG), a public review and comment period on the final draft of the Plan, and a public hearing during the May 22, 2008 MPO Technical Committee meeting; and

WHEREAS, the City of Farmington has reviewed the Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan that was adopted by the MPO Policy Committee.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Governing Body of the City of Farmington, State of New Mexico, hereby adopts the Farmington MPO Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan.
