Senate Bill 315-095
A bill Providing Funding for a Campus Garden, to be Maintained by the Student Environmental Action Coalition and utilized by Dining Services and Students of the College alike.

WHEREAS, the Student Environmental Action Coalition (hereafter denoted as SEAC) has obtained grounds for two gardens, to be cared for by SEAC members and other members of the College, including Faculty;

WHEREAS, SEAC has been in contact with Dining Services, who has agreed to integrate produce from the student garden into dining hall menus in order to make local, organically grown products available to students;

WHEREAS, the Campus Gardens will also use fertilizer produced by the composter, thus promoting organic growth and providing further use for a Student Assembly funded project; and

WHEREAS, SEAC lacks funds needed to purchase gardening equipment, seeds, and the like:

Now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Student Assembly of the College of William and Mary –

(1) Allots $1,000 for funding of said garden from the Consolidated Student Activities Reserve Fund, in order to purchase fencing, one hundred seeds, gardening tools, and fertilizer.

(2) Charges the Chairman of the Finance Committee and the Sponsors of this Bill to facilitate the allotment of funds stated in this bill to the SEAC on-campus account.
