Description:

Cardiff became the world's first Fairtrade Capital in March 2004, an award certified by the Fairtrade Foundation.

Fair Trade Cardiff is the partnership that worked towards this achievement. The partnership aims to increase awareness and understanding of fair trade issues, and to increase access to and use of fair trade products in Cardiff. Each year the partnership aims to do at least one major public event to promote Fairtrade Fortnight. In the past we have put on a Fair Trade 5K fun run, a Fair Trade Football Festival, and been visited by the Fair Trade Foundation's Fairtrade Bus.

There are now over 150 shops, cafes and organisations selling and using fairly traded products in Cardiff. Fair Trade Cardiff publishes the Cardiff Fair Trade Guide - a directory of where in the city you can buy fair trade products. An online map is also available of fair trade groups, organisations, and retailers in Wales.

Members of Fair Trade Cardiff include Cardiff Council, Cardiff Fair Trade Forum, CAFOD, Christian Aid, Fair-Do's, Oxfam Cymru, People & Planet, The Cooperative Group, and concerned individuals.
