GreenPolicy360: Our Position on the Use of Science

Planet Citizens, Planet Scientists

GreenPolicy360: Our work to advance Planet Citizen Action is science-focused. Our goal is to inform, educate, inspire, share Green Best Practices and network across communities,

We support science as a guide in our work. Observation, facts, data, measuring and monitoring are keys to successful decision-making, navigation, journeys and outcomes.

As an eco-resource reporting developments within a wide range of environmental fields, we carefully review our site for accuracy.

Our site attempts to be an e-resource. We approach eco-questions and -challenges with a problem-solving perspective.

In general, when considering questions of environmental risk, environmental security and action agendas, we advocate far-sighted approaches following the "precautionary principle".

When posting content to the GreenPolicy wiki community we urge focusing on facts and science as it endeavors to provide policy and political guidance.

We recommend sites like the Stats science website among many online sources established to investigate claims made regarding environmental science and critical issues regarding climate change.

Within the rainbow of reporting of green/environmental science and eco-news, we welcome fact-checking and reasoned discussion and debate.

"Science is how we turn uncertainty into understanding. It’s how we forecast hurricanes, manage water supplies, design safer infrastructure, track pollution, and prepare communities for a changing climate. So when programs like the National Climate Assessments, the Climate Adaptation Science Centers, NASA Earth-observing satellites, and EPA monitoring efforts are cut, what we lose is not just research: it is knowledge infrastructure..."

"Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark ....

There is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

This distant image of our tiny world...

underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another,

and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've got."
