Description:

Did you know that the City is the first in the nation to launch a residential curbside plastic bag recycling program.

How does it work?
Well, it's pretty simple! Just place all your grocery store plastic bags, your dry cleaning plastic bags or any other plastic bags in a plastic bag . On your trash day, pick up the full plastic bag with plastic bags in it, tie it up and place it in your recycling bin and then place it at the curb for pick up by CR&R. CR&R, in cooperation with Hilex and the City have partnered to recycle plastic bags into new plastic bags.

By recycling your plastic bags, you are helping the City reduce the amount of trash going to the landfill and extending its life. In addition, this will help prevent plastic bags from reaching our creeks and help the environment.

Also, you should be aware that some local supermarkets have plastic bag recycling program at their facilities. This program complements our curbside plastic bag recycling program, and is available to our residents who are not part of the curbside recycling program. To find the most convenient drop-off locations to further increase the recycling of plastic shopping and retail bags, click on the following link: http://www.plasticbagrecycling.org
