Type: Program

Status: Ended 2012

Description:

Due to various reasons, the city no longer has a public CNG fueling site.

The City does allow use of the CNG fueling site for private fleet use. To set up an account, please contact the Union City Fleet and Facilities Division. Fleets are billed at the beginning of the month for fuel purchased in the preceding month.

The City has an Alternative Fuel Vehicle policy that requires it to replace its transit vehicles with non-diesel powered ones. Union City has replaced its old diesel-powered Union City Transit buses with CNG-powered buses since 2000. In 2011, the City approved six replacement CNG buses. When the new buses were delivered in December 2012, the active Union City Transit fleet became completely powered by CNG. The transition of fuel type is estimated to save 270 metric tons of CO2 per year.
