Description:

To acknowledge the importance of ongoing training for individuals and economic development of the local area, the Tasman District Council offers scholarships of up to $1000 for the following year's training.

How often:
Annually.

Time of year:
Applications close at end July each year for study in the following year.

Scholarships should be taken up in the following academic year.

Criteria:
The scholarships are:

  • To enable mature persons in the Tasman District to study or retrain, for the purpose of a redirection in their lives and employment opportunities.
  • Available to persons over the age of 25 years living in the Tasman District, who wish to study at a recognised and approved place of learning to gain a specific qualification or skill.
  • Intended for those who wish to enter tertiary education for the first time.
  • Innovative and non traditional areas are to be encouraged through this scholarship.

It applies to a variety of fields including industry, the arts, education, commerce and the state sector. Preference will be given to applicants who are unlikely to have access to funding from other sources. Successful applicants will receive up to $1000 which can be used to cover fees, travelling expenses or materials.
