Description:

What is the Municipal Government Academy?

The Municipal Government Academy is a program that educates participants about City functions and operations in hopes of developing citizen leaders.

This eleven-week interactive program uses informative presentations on various City departments as well as interesting tours of City facilities to help participants become more familiar with the structure and functions of City government.

Classes are held, spring and fall, on Tuesday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m. Optional tours beginning up to a half hour before class. Graduates of Municipal Government Academy will gain a greater knowledge of government affairs and will also become more effective citizen leaders.

The City of Springfield is looking for people who want to take an active role in local government and make a difference in the community.

If you would like to participate in a future City University Municipal Government Academy please either apply online or download and print the application to mail in. Space is limited, so enroll early to reserve your seat. The program is FREE and all are encouraged to apply.
