RESOLUTION NO. 2002-03
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POULSBO, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING THE CONCEPTS AS CONTAINED IN THE KITSAP SMART GROWTH COALITION’S JANUARY 2002 GOALS

WHEREAS, the Kitsap Smart Growth Coalition is an informal working group which consists of members from the Puget Sound Water Quality Action Team, Kitsap Citizens for Responsible Planning, Home Builders Association of Kitsap County, Kitsap County Association of Realtors, Hood Canal Environmental Council, Kitsap County Board of Commissioners, League of Women Voters, Kitsap Transit, The Sun, 1000 Friends of Washington, Kitsap Regional Economic Development Council, Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority, Kitsap Cities; and

WHEREAS, the Kitsap Smart Growth Coalition work group has, over the past two years, collaborated to sponsor educational forums in Kitsap County and has produced a set of concepts to guide development decisions which is entitled “Smart Goals-January 2002”; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that participating organizations adopt the Coalition’s concepts as contained in their January 2002 goals in order to endorse, promote and educate the citizens of Kitsap County on Smart Growth; now therefore,

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF POULSBO, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES to:

1. Endorse and adopt the concepts set forth in the Kitsap Smart Growth Coalition’s “Smart Goals-January 2002” (Exhibit A included in the source file); and

2. Commit to continued participation in the efforts of the Kitsap Smart Growth Coalition and the refinement of goals and practices that institute broad based, state of the art decisions about growth that are economically sound, environmentally responsible and support community livability for the future of the City of Poulsbo.
