RESOLUTION NO. 94-1110
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING POLICIES FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF RECYCLED PAPER PRODUCTS.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF OLATHE, KANSAS:

SECTION ONE: It shall be the policy of the city of Olathe in its purchase of paper products to purchase recycled products to the extent available in the market place and at reasonable prices in order to conserve natural resources and to reduce any adverse impact on the environment created through use or disposal.

SECTION TWO: For the purposes of this policy, the words "reasonable prices" shall mean that the city may pay up to ten percent (10%) above the lowest price bid for a virgin material product in order to obtain a similar product that utilizes recycled materials.

SECTION THREE: For the purpose of this policy, the words "recycled product" shall mean a product utilizing recycle material, including an appropriate amount of post-consumer waste in its manufacture and as recommended by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

SECTION FOUR: This Resolution shall take effect immediately.
