RESOLUTION NO. 080139
Authorizing the City to partner with the United States Environmental Protection Agency to incorporate green infrastructure controls, when possible, into the City's Overflow Control Plan.

WHEREAS, the United States Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") has developed an action strategy for managing wet weather with green infrastructure and incorporating green infrastructure controls into an Overflow Control Plan; and

WHEREAS, the EPA is seeking municipal operators which desire to incorporate green infrastructure controls into their Overflow Control Plan; and

WHEREAS, the EPA has indicated a willingness to provide certain tools and assistance to select municipal operators for the purpose of incorporating green infrastructure into the municipal operators Overflow Control Plan; and

WHEREAS, the City Council on August 9, 2007, has adopted Resolution No. 070830, establishing a policy to integrate green solutions protective of water in the City planning and development processes, when possible, particularly in the City's comprehensive Wet Weather Solutions Program; and

WHEREAS, the City wishes to collaborate with other public and private partners to incorporate green infrastructure controls into its Overflow Control Plan, when possible, to achieve measurable environmental benefits through locally-guided projects in the metro area; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

The City shall seek to partner with the EPA to incorporate green infrastructure controls, when possible, into the City's Overflow Control Plan.
