Description:

Every member of the university community is encouraged to provide stewardship in protecting the environment by preventing pollution on campus. The objective is to reduce waste and reuse and recycle materials. This will result in minimizing adverse impacts on the air, water, land, and other natural resources. It will also achieve cost savings and provide building occupants with a healthy and safe work environment.

Environmental stewardship guidelines include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Displaying commitment to preventing pollution at Idaho State University
  • Leadership in protecting the environment
  • Eliminating and reducing generation of waste
  • Reusing and recycling materials
  • Procuring recycled materials
  • Preventing emissions during research, process design, teaching, training, development, procurement, transport, construction, and maintenance and operations
  • Encouraging use of non-hazardous, non-toxic and recycled materials
  • Identifying and implementing pollution prevention activities
  • Cooperating with non-Idaho State University entities, such as the government, community and industry, in promoting pollution prevention activities
  • Providing environmental education and training
  • Recognizing pollution prevention achievements
