Description:

How our city grows and changes depends upon people like you. The more Chula Vistans understand how their city government works, the more valuable their input will be. Informed residents can make better decisions about the future of their city.

In an effort to take civic engagement to a new level, you can learn more about how your city government functions by participating in Chula Vista’s new Citizens’ Leadership Academy (CLA). The Academy provides residents with an inside look at city programs, services, policies and issues.

During a series of six evening sessions and a Saturday bus tour, Academy participants tour city facilities and major projects, meet City Council members and interact with department heads and frontline staff.

Session topics include city finances, planning for growth, public safety, recreation, capital projects, road improvements and library services. Informative discussions will be combined with hands-on demonstrations and interactive exercises. Participation in the CLA is an opportunity to get answers to questions you’ve always wanted to ask.
